Michel Girardin
Professor Michel Girardin combines recognized academic skills in teaching finance with extensive professional experience in Wealth Management, including the latest trends of Fintech and WealthTech. Michel teaches Macro-Finance at the Universities of Geneva and Annecy and acts as an independent advisor on investment management for private and institutional clients. His video course on investment management has been followed by more than 250,000 students worldwide since 2016. The course ranks no 2 worldwide in popularity out of 980 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in Business on Coursera’s platform. Michel holds a PhD and a B.A in Economics from the University of Lausanne and a Master of Science in Economics from the London School of Economics.
He has some 25 years experience as Chief Economist and Chief Investment Officer in the Swiss banking sector. He has also run both an equity and a sovereign bond fund as well as a fund of Asian Hedge funds. In 2012, Michel was included in Bilan magazine’s ranking of the 50 most influential personalities of the Swiss financial sector. Michel has published numerous research articles on Financial Markets and the global economy and is a regular columnist in the press (the list can be found on his website: www.michelgirardin.com). Born in Rome in 1958, Michel has a dual Swiss and French nationality. With French as his mother tongue, he is perfectly fluent in English and Italian, has a good mastering of German, and understands Swiss German.
